I have seen the blue waters of Bali, lived on the side of a dormant volcano in Honduras, sailed along the canals that spot the English countryside, slept in a cave in France and walked the rocky roads of Iceland. All of these vast experiences, and thousands more, have developed my sense of self in a way unlike any other. The pieces I create each carry a little bit of my wandering soul and the cultures I have experienced. The raw beauty of this majestic earth has shaped not only my soul but my personal style. Endeavoring to explore the raw vulnerability within myself and the world around me is what drives most of my designs: raw, unkempt pieces of earth that stir the soul-deep desire within all of us to be part of something larger than ourselves- to be connected to those who have walked the earth before us and will come after.

How My Pieces Are Made… http://www.thefoxandstone.com/2015/10/how-my-pieces-are-made/ http://www.thefoxandstone.com/2015/10/how-my-pieces-are-made/#comments Fri, 30 Oct 2015 17:45:09 +0000 http://www.thefoxandstone.com/?p=380 Every piece of my luxury jewelry starts as raw, natural material and I work my hardest to keep it as close to that natural state as possible in the finished product. Most of the stones, crystals and minerals that are showcased in my pieces begin as rough slabs or large crystal hunks. From there, I either cut the stones how I need them or let nature and a hammer guide how the crystals break. The result is often breathtaking. One of the amazing things about the process of electroforming is that I can basically build up a ring around stone maintaining the natural shape, individuality and personality of the stone. The final result is a ‘pulled from the earth’ piece of jewelry. In order to keep every piece looking as strikingly luxurious as it does when I finish my work, I seal the copper with a light acrylic. This is only meant to preserve and extend the life of the piece and in no way interferes with the beauty or rustic quality of the jewelry.
